NEW BOOK, “DRESSING WITH DIGNITY,”
CHALLENGES THE INDECENT FASHIONS FOR TODAY’S WOMAN HEAD ON!
Valley View, Texas, June 9, 2004
– Moans of frustration are rippling across the country as women today are increasingly exasperated by the lack of dignified
clothing for themselves and significant others in their lives.
Finally, award-winning writer, comedienne,
radio and television talk show host, and mother, Colleen Hammond, decided to take the fashion world to task.
“People are frustrated,”
notes Hammond. “Whenever I give a speech or presentation about any topic, mothers and fathers would come
up to me afterwards and say things like, ‘I don’t know what to do with my daughter. She dresses like Britney Spears!’”
And no wonder. To look around in
today’s shopping malls and fashion clothing stores, it would appear that the only acceptable way for women to dress
is in tight clothing and very little of it.
Hammond decided that enough was
enough and started to put together a book that is already creating an excited buzz around the country.
“I can’t tell you how
many people from some of the most unexpected places have contacted me about this book,” says Hammond. “Mothers,
fathers, grandparents, teachers, school administrators, clergy…you name it! And all of them are saying pretty much the
same thing, ‘Thank you for writing the book. It is sorely needed!’”
The recent publicity surrounding
eleven-year old Ella Gunderson of Redmond, Washington slams the point home crystal clear. Ella, faced with undignified clothing
choices, got the attention of Pete Nordstrom, executive vice president and president of the company's full-line stores. It
touched a nerve and sparked attention to immodest fashions for girls around the country.
“It just shows that women are frustrated and angry about today’s fashions, but
they also feel alone and abandoned by the fashion industry,” notes Hammond.
Dressing With Dignity gives parents and other concerned adults the ammunition they need to battle the attacks on
true feminine decency in fashion. It takes today’s fashion industry to task for giving women only one choice in fashion:
racy, tawdry, and altogether unacceptable for women who are concerned about maintaining their dignity and respect.
Readers will not be disappointed in Colleen’s witty, conversational style
as she covers such topics as:
-
The history behind today’s fashions and the forces behind them.
-
How to talk to your teenagers about the privilege of femininity so they will want to dress with dignity.
-
An Outfit Test that helps you understand the impact of your clothing choices.
-
How to dress in an attractive, dignified, and classy manner (according to your state in life).
-
How to inexpensively update the clothing in your closet and give it style, polish, and distinction.
- Resources
on where to find tasteful, modest clothing -- it's not as hard as you think!
- And much, much more....
Don’t be mistaken: being 'modest'
doesn't mean dressing 'frumpy'. Colleen shows you how to create a tasteful style that accentuates the grace and beauty of
your femininity. There is a difference between dressing attractively, and dressing to attract, and with Colleen’s help,
you’ll be able to dress fashionable while still maintaining your dignity!
